Just one from a beautiful beach session yesterday. I asked Ashlyn to lay her head down on her mom’s shoulder and after a few shots, she said quietly, “I like to be like this.” So sweet.
Casual. Fun. My favorite! | Rancho Palos Verdes Family Photographer
April 20th, 2012Prior to a session, I always have clients fill out an intake form, answering questions about their personalities and goals for the shoot. When I read Michelle’s answers, I knew right away this would be fun…the type of shoot that is my absolute favorite. Not only did she mention she loves color (no khakis and white shirts here!), she said she wanted the feel of the shots to be casual, interactive and fun. LOVE that. I do understand there is a time and place for a very posed, formal image. Sometimes you want to gift a family shot to grandma and that’s what SHE likes. Nonetheless, this is what most photographers love to do! In fact, when I arrived at the park, they were already playing…mom, dad and Rocco kicking the soccer ball while Zoe sat on the blanket and Dory, the family dog, ran around.
This was a “Simplicity Session”, meaning the session is all-inclusive. You can find more info by following the “investment” link in the top bar of the blog. I don’t book very many Simplicity Sessions; I think most people feel 10 images just isn’t enough. I wanted to post all 10 images here this time for 2 reasons. First, because it was such a fun session and second, to show future clients what kind of variety we can do with a Simplicity Session and just 10 images!
Twice Blessed | Redondo Beach Newborn Twin Photographer
March 16th, 2012I’m a lucky lucky girl…two sets of twins back to back! This beautiful family was actually referred to me by the last one..they met at a newborn class when they were pregnant. I think it’s so neat that they were both pregnant with boy/girl twins, due right around the same time and then delivered around the same time. I see some wonderful friendships in their futures!
Sweet Natalie zonked out pretty early on in the session and stayed that way most of the time I was there! I absolutely adore her sweet puffy lips and chubby cheeks.

It took awhile to get Blake to sleep and it was never as deep or peaceful as his sister. But I was thrilled that despite this picture being taken an hour or so after the above one of Natalie, we got a very similar pose! Love the idea of these two hung over their respective cribs!

My models | Southern California Children’s Photographer
March 12th, 2012I was recently given a GREAT opportunity to get some adorable new clothes for my kiddos in exchange for photographing them in the clothes. Such a win-win for me because I love the clothes, love getting to try out new concepts/ideas in photography and LOVE the resulting photos of my kids! Hmm, I guess that’s a win-win-win
Here are some of the images you’ll see on Macy May Designs website, but go check out the store for more great custom-made apparel. My personal favorite is the hoodie- it’s so soft and warm and Aidric LOVES the “5″ on front and his pirate initial on back!
I thought it would be fun to get a few shots with Aidric’s handsome BFF so I had a shirt made for him too. LOVE how cute they are together!
Introducing the diva and her brother | Redondo Beach Newborn Twin Photographer
March 2nd, 2012Mom and dad lovingly called her a diva…may have had something to do with her keeping them up for MOST of the night the night before our session….or maybe it is because she’s already pretty clear in what she likes and doesn’t like
. In any case, she was a little fussy when we started, but once her little tummy was full, she was a happy and peaceful girl. And diva or not, she is ADORABLE and so so sweet!!

Her “big” (by a few minutes and 1 pound) brother. Right now, he’s known as the “easy/chill” baby. I’m always fascinated by twins and wonder if these personality traits will stick around or if they’ll switch it up. I do know he’s equally adorable and sweet!

Oh, I absolutely adore this family shot. Two beautiful babies. Beautiful parents. And most importantly, the love is just overwhelming. These little miracle babies are so lucky.

And one more… snuggly twins in a basket..my current favorite shot!

Happy Heart Day! | Redondo Beach Children’s Photographer
February 14th, 2012If I hadn’t shown Cormac so much blog love here and here just recently, I would feel bad about this. But, since he didn’t need a picture for a valentine’s card, he only has one pose to show for his mini Valentine’s Day session. Juliet, on the other hand, was LOOOOVING every minute of posing for me, and Aidric tolerated the camera for at least 2 minutes. So, just for the record, despite the number of pictures here, I do love them all equally
2 weeks old | Rancho Palos Verdes Newborn Photographer
January 27th, 2012I know mom is anxiously awaiting these photos of her beautiful new babe and his big sister, and I can’t wait for her to see them! Baby H was so alert when I arrived. I would guess he slept for maybe 20 minutes the whole time I was there? We took advantage of his awake time to capture some great sibling moments and family interactions though. And then worked those 20 minutes for the sleepy baby shots.

I can’t not include this one. As soon as I arrived, dad pulled out this onesie and mom quickly gave me “the look” …the one that means, “please do not photograph my baby in this”. But then mom was in the other room and the onesie came back out. Of course, I said yes
In the end, mom was holding the flag up in the background of this picture, giggling that she couldn’t believe she was actually helping with this!

If you have a 4 month old or an almost 4 month old… | Redondo Beach Baby Photographer
January 14th, 2012or you know someone who has a 4 month old or you’re pregnant and will someday have a 4 month old, please, I beg you- schedule a photo session asap!
I am finding that I can not take enough pictures of Cormac right now. This is just such a fun age filled with a new discovery every day- watching him grab his little toes and rock back and forth with a huge smile on his face just KILLS me. So. freaking. sweet! The slurping on hands or sometimes just 3 fingers. Gigantic gummy grins, puckered up fish lips…the drool. Swoon. Working so hard to lift up his head from his tummy. Half rolling over from his back to his tummy but not all the way because he’s too chubby for that
. And speaking of the chub- delicious!! Yes, there is so much to capture at this age!!

Sweet, sweet baby | Redondo Beach Baby Photographer
January 4th, 2012I don’t know how it’s happened, but he’s almost 4 months old already. He brings so so much joy to our family. He brings out the best in Aidric..he’s the sweetest, most helpful and protective older brother ever when Cormac is around. And I don’t dare wake up Juliet from a nap without him in my arms. If she just sees me, all I get is a grouchy sass. But, when I lay him down next to her and tell her I’m waking her up b/c he missed her, she immediately throws her arms around him and says, “It’s OK Cormac, I’m right here buddy”. His sweet baby breath, happy coos and warm cuddles have turned me into a complete softy when it comes to parenting. I’m working hard to get him to sleep better right now, but finding it hard not to sabotage my own efforts by getting him up and bringing him into bed to snuggle with me!
He’s a sweet one alright. We are so lucky to have him.
Kind of Like Mine | Redondo Beach Family Photographer
November 28th, 2011There were a lot of fun things about this session, but the most fun thing is how much these 2 kiddos remind me of my own. The first thing Dave said to me when they got out of the car was that Colin was “in a mood”. Hmm, sounds kind of like the one I left at home
Then little miss blondie got of the car and I thought, yep, kind of like mine!
We had fun hiking around this gorgeous park and stayed until sunset to capture the beautiful images of mom and kids at the end. It turns out the park doesn’t actually stay open until sunset though. Oops. Thanks for being good sports and scaling the fence with me to get out guys
I’m not going to lie, I took a picture of Cherie on her way over with a skirt on, but I’ll save that for the private gallery!
